John Kempe Executive Performance Partner

John has extensive Executive, General Management, Board and Strategy experience across both profit and not for profit, focused on the energy and resources industries.   This includes more than 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, the energy transition and the resources sector supporting the delivery of major projects.

During his career, John has performed a number of roles that have enabled him to gain extensive hands-on leadership, business strategy, development and stakeholder management experience while building extensive industry knowledge.   He has performed successfully as a Business Manager, Regional Manager, General Manager, Chief Executive, Vice President and various Board roles including on Incorporated Joint Ventures and Industry Associations.

While his focus has been working with large corporations, including Technip, Sodexo and Toll Holdings, he has operated across a range of functional areas, diverse cultures, multiple market sectors and in varying geographic locations.  This enables John to quickly understand, enquire, adapt, plan, make informed decisions and act decisively.

He has a proven track record delivering outstanding strategic growth outcomes.  Key success factors include building high performing teams and maintaining an exceptional customer service culture underpinned by strong relationships and consistent service delivery.

Prior to moving into the private sector, John served in the Australian Army for 23 years.  His distinguished service included command of a Special Forces Regiment, an exchange to the US Army and service with the United Nations in the Middle East.

He has tertiary qualifications in Economics, Survival and Rescue, Management and Defence from the University of NSW, Deakin University and the Australian Command and Staff College.

Outside of work, John is married and a proud dad of two grown-ups. He pursues an active outdoor life-style, helps manage a local rugby team, is a volunteer at a military museum and enjoys outback travel adventures.
